Make An Appointment

Make an online tutoring appointment for advice and guidance on your written work here. You are highly encouraged to make Zoom tutoring appointments, but if you are living outside Malaysia’s time zone or if you are unavailable for synchronous appointments, you may opt for Email tutoring.

If this is your first time making an appointment with the AWSU, please read about our Zoom tutoring appointment policy and Email tutoring appointment policy.

 ZOOM TUTORING APPOINTMENT POLICY

 ZOOM TUTORING APPOINTMENT

  • Use the appointment calendar to check when openings for tutoring are available.
  • All appointments are on one-to-one basis.
  • All appointments must be scheduled at least TWO (2) working days in advance.
  • The duration of each appointment is one (1) hour only.
  • Only one (1) appointment per week is allowed for each student.
  • Students will receive a confirmation email after a booking is made. The Zoom invite link for a video-conference tutoring will be sent in the email.
  • Upon receiving the confirmation email, students need to send a draft of a paper/assignment to this email address: calc_writing@upm.edu.my
  • In the body of the email, students need to provide:
    • name
    • matric no
    • short description of what to work on with a tutor
    • a soft copy of a draft (not more than 5 pages, Arial or Times New Roman, 12 font size, 1.5 line spacing, normal margins)
  • If students fail to attend an appointment, it will be marked as a no-show. More than two (2) no-shows in a semester will result in cancellation of all future appointments.
  • If students need to cancel an appointment, they must do so at least 24 hours in advance. This is to give other students the opportunity to make an appointment.
  • Cancellation or rescheduling of appointments must be done online.
  • Students are NOT allowed to make appointments to discuss another individual’s writing or submitting on behalf of a friend/family member/student.

EMAIL TUTORING APPOINTMENT POLICY

 EMAIL TUTORING APPOINTMENT

  • Use the appointment calendar to book a slot. Each student is eligible for only one booking each week (subject to demand & availability)
  • Students will not be meeting to discuss their work with a tutor online. Instead, students are to submit a draft of their own work to this email address: calc_writing@upm.edu.my
  • In the body of the email, students need to provide:
    • name
    • matric no
    • short description of what to work on with a tutor
    • a soft copy of a draft (not more than 5 pages, Arial or Times New Roman, 12 font size, 1.5 line spacing, normal margins)
  • The AWSU writing tutors will provide written feedback on the submitted work within two to three (2-3) working days.
  • The written feedback is NOT a corrected draft that contains line-by-line suggestions for editing. It is only a summary of the language aspects that students need to concentrate on while revising their work
  • Students are NOT allowed to submit another individual’s writing or on behalf of a friend/family member/student.
