Serdang, 14 April - The Language Extension Unit at the Centre for the Advancement of Language Competence (CALC), UPM organised a Junior English Camp for 23 young learners from South Korea aged between 7 to 14 years old. The objective of the camp was to provide English language classes to participants through fun learning activities.

JEC was held from 16 th January 2023 to 10 th February 2023. The one-month programme was packed with a lot of exciting English language in-class activities as well as outdoor activities. On the first day of the camp, participants took a Placement Test to determine their language proficiency level. They were then placed into 3 separate groups based on their proficiency level - basic, intermediate and advance group. Participants attended English classes from 9.00 am until 3.30 pm daily followed by golf lessons at Uniputra Golf Driving Range and swimming lessons at UPM’s Swimming Complex from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

Besides that, participants also had the opportunity to visit interesting places around Universiti Putra Malaysia such as Beryl’s Chocolate Factory, Farm Fresh@UPM and G2G Animal Farm.

Overall, the programme was a success as participants had lots of fun while learning English. They departed from CALC back to their home country with good memories and valuable lessons. CALC will be organising more of such language camps to foster international ties and remain as one of the renowned language centres in Malaysia.
