Serdang, 19 May - The Language Extension Unit at the Centre for the Advancement of Language Competence (CALC), UPM organised a one-day course on English for Customer Service for 30 administration staff from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) residential colleges. The course objective was to provide English for Customer Service training for the residential college staff. The course also aimed to improve their speaking skills as well as to provide a more customer-friendly service in English as they deal with many international students on a daily basis.

The course was held on 9^th March 2023 from 8.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m. This one-day course was conducted in Bilik Seminar Tun Dr Ismail at Kolej Tun Dr Ismail (KTDI), UPM by Puan Nurul Farhana Abd Razak, an experienced teacher from CALC.

The content covered in the course was Speaking Accurately, Talk with Tact and Converse Confidently with Customers. The focus of the content was on English pronunciation and intonation, conversational skills and etiquette as well as situations and language expressions in customer service. Participants had the chance to do role-plays, conduct group discussions on related topics and present their ideas during group presentation.

Overall, the course was a success as participants were very active and engaged while doing all the activities during the programme. CALC, UPM will continue to organise courses such as this to support the mission and vision of UPM in delivering high quality service for students and the public.
